This is the core concept behind the We Gotta Shine (Gente é Pra Brilhar) Project whose main purpose is to encourage youngsters to stay in school, lowering drop-out rates and enhancing the self-esteem of children and adolescents between seven and fifteen years old in the Comari II community, Campo Grande, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, through artistic activities. The full potential of these activities is brought out through monitoring and strengthening family structures, in parallel to themed lectures and home calls by the We the Family (Nós de Família) project.
Partnerships are built up with local institutions that offer opportunities for capacity-building and response to other family needs. This Project extends the services assisting children and adolescents, stepping up the interaction between the school and the community.
