When a community gets together to find solutions to its problems on collective bases, its chances of success soar. Adopting this standpoint, the Be Capable (Ser Capaz) Programme supports two projects run by the Circo Baixada circus for at risk children and adolescents living in the Morro Azul community at Queimados. The Active Community (Comunidade Ativa) and Young Educators (Jovens Educadores) Projects are designed to strengthen community links and enhance the wellbeing of these young people, serving as catalysts for processes and encouraging the community to analyze its situation, define its problems and find solutions.
The purpose of the Active Community and Young Educators Projects is to train fifteen youngsters as art educators through workshops focused on artistic techniques and languages. These workshops and the cultural presentations involve residents in the Morro Azul community, heightening their awareness of issues related to the rights of children and adolescents.
