Cultural activities underpinning the social development of children, strengthening the concept of rights and citizenship among them and their families: this is the purpose of the Supplementary Project run by the Santa Teresa Ballet, which works with the cultural perceptions of children from seven to twelve years old. In addition to opening up access for pupils and their families to artistic and cultural activities, this Project intends to profile the social situation of families living in the Morro da Coroa community, focusing particularly on teen pregnancy, in order to guide the planning of actions undertaken by this institution within the community.
This support also means that more attention can be paid to the Municipal Council for Children’s and Adolescents´ rights (CMDCA) discussing and defining public policies for children and young people in the City of Rio de Janeiro.
