The Spin (Fiar) Project is helping ensure good quality education for fifty children between six and twelve years old at government schools in the Greater Tijuca area, while also working with their families. To do so, it offers supplementary education activities using the languages of art, focused on reading and writing, with workshops that create stories, texts and woven fabrics, together with themed reflections. Another key activity for this Project is to build up closer links with schools and organise forums with families and school communities on children’s and adolescents' rights and the reformulation of the educational policy projects for schools. These efforts are expected to upgrade the classroom performance of these children, with at least five government schools mobilised to encourage reading.
