Tailored to the reality of young people from low-income families who drop out of school before their fourteenth birthdays, the Learn with Pleasure (Aprender com Prazer) Project is designed to foster the inclusion and educational success of fifty children from ten to fifteen years old, encouraging them to stay in school, living in the Morro dos Macacos community, which has high drop-out rates and poor classroom performance ratings. This project is implemented through a partnership with the Assis Chateaubriand municipal school, striving to stimulate interest in study through social and educational activities by using playful and striking language as a tool, as well as classroom support workshops that include: a Words Workshop on reading and writing; a Fascinating Facts and Figures Workshop for the sciences; and an Adding Efforts Workshop on mathematics, as well as inclusionary outreach activities and awareness-heightening drives working with families.
