For the first time, the United through the Cure (Unidos Pela Cura) Public Policy is included in the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Health Plan.
Approved on December 8, 2009, this Plan is part of the 2010 ? 2013 Pluri-Annual Plan (PPA) that is drawn up during the first year of each Administration, defining its values, goals and actions for the next three years and also for the first year of the subsequent Administration.
Pursuing the goal of Strengthening and Upgrading the Management Capacities of this Municipal Health Plan, the United through the Cure Public Policy is mentioned among the distance education actions, ranking third by number of accesses through to June 30, 2009.
In order to Extend Access to Healthcare Services for the Population with Upgraded Healthcare Actions ? which is rated as a high-priority field of action for this Administration in its Pluri-Annual Plan, the United through the Cure (UPC) Public Policy is included under the strategic guideline for Reorganising Attention through Lines of Care in Integrated Healthcare Areas (TEIAS), as a effective way of building up an integral structure while buttressing healthcare activities, aligned with the spheres of action defined by the Pact for Life. The commitment is to “Monitor 100% of children and adolescents referred with suspected cases of cancer through the UPC information system."
The computerised system run by this Public Policy handles the management of the referral cards used by physicians in the primary care network to refer suspected cases of childhood cancers to the research hubs and from there to the treatment centres, when necessary.
It also generates consolidated reports that provide input for the UPC Bulletin. For further details about the United through the Cure (Unidos Pela Cura) Public Policy, access: www.inca.gov.br/unidospelacura. To read the latest Bulletin, click here.
