March 18th, 2009 Desiderata visits Partnership Project with Government Schools in São Paulo

On the 10th of this month, the Instituto Desiderata visited the Partners in Education Association, which forms an interface between companies and / or individuals with government schools in São Paulo State, upgrading teaching quality and enhancing the classroom performances of their pupils.

This Association identifies a government school eager to establish a partnership and introduces a partner wishing to invest in human resources and materials, tailored to the needs of the specific school. All this is established through an Action Plan drawn up by the school community and its partner. Investments are allocated during a period of five years, with 67 State-run schools currently assisted through these partnerships. One of them is the Gonzaga Travassos da Rosa State School in a low-income community near to Paraisópolis in Morumbi, which was visited by the Instituto Desiderata. Its Education Coordinator Celso stresses the importance of this partnership, explaining that the school changed after the arrival of its investor partner.
