December 16th, 2009 Strategic Committee looks back at 2009 and defines Strategies for 2010

Held on December 8 at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, the 15th Strategic Committee Meeting of the United through the Cure (Unidos Pela Cura) Public Policy  was attended by representatives of the Rio de Janeiro State Centre / Ministry of Health (NERJ/MS) and the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Health Bureau, in addition to the Lagoa and Servidores Hospitals, with civil society represented by the Instituto Desiderata.

On this occasion, a retrospective of 2009 was drawn up, presenting major progress in training paediatricians, commitments from the Research Hub hospitals to accepting referred suspected cases of childhood cancers, and fine-tuning the computerised monitoring system for this Policy

In addition to these accomplishments, the efforts of the United through the Cure Public Policy also highlight key issues that must be addressed in order to upgrade the conditions for treating and curing childhood cancers in Rio de Janeiro.  To do so, it will be vital to strengthen the powers of decision held by the Strategic Committee, with the effective presence of all three tiers of administration for the National Health System (SUS) in this State.

The Strategic Committee will meet on February 2 in order to discuss strategies and define targets for 2010.
