The United Through the Cure public policy celebrates its approval under the Early Diagnosis Programme ran by the Ronald McDonald Institute. This will underpin the expansion of training early diagnoses of childhood cancers to the Family Health Programme teams in the Rio de Janeiro Municipality.
The Project entitled United Through the Cure reaches out to the Family Health Programme will train 500 healthcare practitioners, and will be implemented in Scheduled Healthcare Area 5.2, which encompasses the following districts: Santíssimo, Campo Grande, Senador Vasconcelos, Inhoaíba, Cosmos, Guaratiba, Pedra de Guaratiba and Barra de Guaratiba. From then on, children with suspected childhood cancers assisted by this Programme will receive referral cards for the Investigation Hub Hospitals, and will be covered by the public policy encouraging early diagnoses of childhood cancer in Rio de Janeiro, called the United Through the Cure Policy.
Coordinated by the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Healthcare and Civil Defence Bureau, with technical coordination from the National Cancer Institute (INCA), this project will benefit some 21% of the population of the Healthcare Programme Area 5.2, with around 712,523 inhabitants.
The United Through the Cure reaches out to the Family Health Programme was the first project in Rio de Janeiro approved by the Early Diagnosis Programme ran by the Ronald McDonald Institute. This highlights the importance of the United Through the Cure public policy - launched in 2005 - within the current context of childhood cancers in Rio de Janeiro.
